Greetings! My name is Jacqueline Lehr and I am a freelance Cinematographer and Camera Assistant. I am honored to be a part of Death Is No Bad Friend not only because the screenwriter is a very talented friend of mine, but the story itself intrigued me. Every Cinematographer loves period pieces because of their elegance and attention to detail in every aspect of the camera’s frame. The costumes, props, language and characters must be accurate down to the stitching on their clothes, in order to accurately represent the era. Not only that, but the story of Robert Louis Stevenson is a fascinating tale of a talented man who is not afraid of dying and in fact welcomes it to his doorstep. It is for these reasons that I would love to capture the essence of this character and this story on film.
Siren’s Gaze Productions is a production company that was born at Cannes Film Festival this past May 2013. This is where I met many talented filmmakers and storytellers, but it was Geri E. Gallas and Mary Lachapelle that stuck out to me the most. When we weren’t walking on the red carpet in floor length gowns with the stars, we were discussing all topics of life with a bottle of French wine on the Riviera. The combination of our personalities melted together and formed this film production company because of our varied talents all combined together. I have an undying passion for Cinematography, Mary has the same for Directing and Geri has a marvelous talent for writing scripts. Together we can do anything as a strong feminine unit. My goals for our first production together are that we are able to mesh our talents and strong points into one beautiful piece of art. I am very excited about working on this particular piece and I know that with all of our talents and passion for filmmaking combined, we will stop at nothing for a film that we can all be proud of.
To conclude my ramblings of a passionate camera woman, we would all greatly appreciate any sort of help for our project. We are a driven group of women who have had experiences all over the board. My experiences lie in the production aspect of filmmaking, as well as Mary’s. Having met at Cannes Film Festival certainly shows that we are a talented, up and coming group of female filmmakers, who just want to show the world that we can follow our dreams with a little hard work! Thank you for taking the time to read about our charming film and I only hope that we have convinced you enough to contribute to the project created by the ever-so-talented Geri E. Gallas!
